Our story
ALHANA means Happiness.
A family-run Middle Eastern bakery in Toronto, making traditional date maamoul the way our family has for generations. Small batches, real butter, real time.

- 2019
One recipe, one kitchen.
We started Alhana out of a home kitchen in the GTA. One family recipe for date maamoul, a handful of regulars, and the quiet belief that Middle Eastern sweets deserved the same craft attention as any European pastry.
- 2023
Approved by Empire.
We became an approved local supplier to Sobeys, FreshCo, and Foodland — Vendor #361953. Our maamoul started appearing on bakery shelves across Ontario, next to brands we’d known since childhood.
- 2026
A new generation.
The next generation is taking over operations. Same recipe, same hands-on process, a bigger mission: bring the warmth of Middle Eastern dessert tradition to every Canadian table — through stores, online orders, and catering.

What we make
Every cookie stamped by hand.
Date maamoul is our flagship — a buttery shortbread with a soft date-paste heart. Every piece is stamped by hand with the same wooden mould designs our grandmothers used.
We make them with real butter, a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg, and no shortcuts. They’re not the cheapest date cookie you can buy. They’re the one you’ll remember.

The family
ALHANA means Happiness.
Alhana started with our parents — a small booth, a hand-painted sign, and a tray of maamoul we’d been making at home for years. People kept asking where they could buy more.
Seven years later, we’re still a family operation. Same recipes, same standards, same sign.
